I've gotten a lot of questions lately regarding the features of SpeakOhio. Here you will find a list of some of the most frequently asked questions and answers.

Q: I don't like [insert name] can I block their posts?

A: Yes you can. To do this simply add the user to your "foe" list. When logged in under your username you will no longer see posts displayed which are written by your foe. You can still see responses to the post and if the foe is quoted you will see the post in quotes.

To add a foe or friend simply go to your User Control Panel and select the far right tab labeled Friends & Foes.

Q: Why does quote never work for me? / How do I quote?

A: To use the quote feature to respond directly to a particular post simply click the quote button found at the upper right of the post. The quote will be automatically placed in the text field for you to respond to.

You can also use quote manually by clicking the quote button on the post reply/new post page. This will automatically insert the code to quote. You must put in the text you wish to quote. You can also write the quote code manually as such

{quote}Text to Quote{/quote}

Please note you must change the { } to [ ] for the code to display properly.

If you are still having issues make sure that Disable BBCode is not checked underneath the post reply/new post page.

Q: How do I change my text color, size etc. / How do I insert an image?

A: SpeakOhio as a phpBB system uses BBCode. This code allows you to alter font, insert pictures and insert URLs into your posts. To learn more about the BBCode please click HERE

Q: My signature won't appear.

A: Signatures can be set via the User Control Panel. To make your signature attach to every post under Board Settings in the UCP select Edit Posting Defaults then select the option to Attach my Signature by default.

To manually attach your signature to a post make sure the Attach a signature box is checked under options towards the bottom of the post reply/new post page

Q: Something was posted that violates guidelines. How do I report this?

A: At an average of 100-200 posts a day sometimes things get past moderation. The best way to report a post is to use the report post option. Click the report button on the offending post. The report button is the triangle with the exclamation point. This will bring it to my attention for review.

Q: I followed the BBCode but why can only I see the picture?

A: Images must be hosted on the internet to be displayed. If you are attempting to link to an image on your hard drive you will be the only one who can see it. There are several sites that offer free image hosting like PhotoBucket.

Q: I posted a picture but now it has changed? How did that happen?

A: If displaying an image hosted on another site that site reserves the right to protect their bandwidth. Several times they will put a "leech" filter that will prevent the image from being displayed and/or put another image in it's place. If that is the the case save the image and upload it to your own image hosting.

Note that copyrighted images can not be displayed.

Q: How do I use an avatar?

A: In the UCP under Profile select the Edit Avatar option from here you can do one of three things. Clicking Display Gallery will allow you to use one of the standard SpeakOhio avatars available. You can also upload a custom avatar from your computer or from the internet. In both cases the avatar can not exceed the dimensions of 100 x 100 pixels.
