Did not Jesus overturn the tables in the temple because he didn't like to see the church making profit from people? There is NO excuse for all these fancy churches or an entire city of lavish luxury when there are people starving.
I completely agree with you here. I think you know I happen to believe in God, the Bible and all that. I also believe that NOTHING we see in "The Church" is close to what Christ preached. As I was thinking about this though, I think we may be missing the point. To say "There is NO excuse for....." might be misplaced. I think we can have both. I think we (Americans, or whoever) CAN have wealth and luxury AND feed hungry people, do charitable work, etc. I don't see that there is only so much of the pie to go around, but that we can make and bake more pie. But, overall, this is a good topic. There are ministers in this town who shamelessly collect large salaries to "run" "their" church, and who call said large salaries "God's Blessing". Problem is, "God's Blessing" comes off the backs of people, the vast majority of whom don't make close to what the pastor is paid. Maybe if the pastors weren't busy sucking all the resources dry, they would be more able to help those in need.
Good Topic.
